Why Use a Gas Safe Certificated Engineer?
Appliances that use gas such as your boiler are perfectly safe if installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer but could be deadly if installed by someone unqualified, that’s why it is critical that you look for the Gas Safe logo and check your engineer’s credentials.
Formally known as CORGI, the Gas Safe Register is the UK’s official list of gas businesses and engineers who are registered to work safely and legally on boilers, cookers, fires and all other gas appliances. By law all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register.
Carbon monoxide (the gas inside your appliances) is extremely flammable and also extremely toxic if inhaled, therefore the person you employ to install your boiler must know what they are doing and have the Gas Safe certification to prove it. Don’t cut corners, Trust the Triangle.
Gas Safety Certificate CP12:
Gas Safety Certificates should be issued annually in rented properties to ensure all pipework, appliances and flues are safe.
Landlords have a duty and are legally responsible for the safety of tenants in relation to gas safety as follows:
Repair and maintain gas pipework, flues and appliances in safe condition
Ensure an annual gas safety check on each appliance and flue
Keep a record of each safety check

Why should I use an Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) Registered Technician?
All heating appliances should be installed correctly and will require annual servicing to ensure they perform correctly and safely.
There are building regulations that apply to the siting of your oil tank and your new or replacement boiler or stove.
A registered technician will install new boilers and tanks to meet the current regulations and give you a commissioning certificate that will meet Building Control requirements.
Domestic oil installation and boiler servicing:
If you're installing a new oil fired boiler or need a boiler checked or repaired, you should always use a OFTEC registered technician.
OFTEC who maintain a register of technicians who have been trained and independently assessed and are deemed competent to work with oil-fired appliances in Britain.
